I am new to embroidery where do I start
A good place to start is with one of the following:

- Purchase an entry level embroidery kit.
- Purchase one of the tutorials/lessons.
- Purchase a copy of the book Needle Painting Embroidery: Fresh Ideas for beginners.
- Purchase a copy of the handbook. This tells you everything you need to know about the stitches, preparation and lots of hints and tips.

EMBROIDERY ESSENTIALS FOR BEGINNERS.
Here are the materials you will need:
Fabric
You can start with cotton fabric. It needs to have a very close weave and no stretch in it. You can purchase cotton fabric here, or you can cut up a 200count pillow case/sheet. Information on fabric.
Threads
DMC, Anchor or Cosmo stranded cotton can be used for embroidery. You will be using one strand unless the instructions state otherwise. Information on thread. List of online suppliers.
Needle
Sharps size 10 or crewel size 10. Information on needles. See on Amazon.
Hoop
You will need a super grip (plastic) embroidery hoop. Size 6 -8 inches is a good size to start with. See on Amazon.
Embroidery Scissors
A small sharp pair of scissors. See on Amazon.
HOW TO EMBROIDER
1. Wash and iron your fabric to remove creases. Transfer the outline to the fabric. You can purchase an iron on transfer or trace it by hand, Here are the instructions.
2. Mount the fabric in a hoop. Here are the instructions.
3. Thread one strand of cotton into the needle and begin stitching. You will find instructions in your pattern, or you can download a copy of the stitch guide.
4. When the embroidery is complete you can block it. Here are the instructions.
